The Nova Scotia Nature Trust has protected, forever, one of Nova Scotia’s cherished island gems - Partridge Island. Several generous island owners have come together to ensure that this natural, historic and cultural landmark is preserved, though a conservation easement agreement with the Nature Trust.

The Nova Scotia Nature Trust is extremely honoured to have the support of some very extraordinary people. Our donors and volunteers are creating an incredible legacy for all Nova Scotians and for the species that live here.

In 2017, Dr. David and Faye Sobey entrusted their 30 acre property on the St. Mary’s River to the care of the Nova Scotia Nature Trust. Sincere thanks to David Sobey for sharing their story.

The Nature Trust is part way through a multi-stage conservation effort to protect the site. The first step, purchasing the Roost Pond property, is now complete. We are working together with the Province of Nova Scotia in the hopes the property will ultimately be included in the proposed Rogues Roost Wilderness Area.

Indiana’s hellbender populations have experienced steep declines in recent years, with the only known remaining population in the Blue River, located in extreme south-central Indiana. Recovery efforts have been made possible by multiple partners including the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Indiana DNR, Purdue University, cooperating Indiana zoos, and the neighboring states of Ohio and Kentucky, among others.

Want to become a partner in the conservation of hellbenders and Indiana’s other endangered wildlife? Funding for Indiana’s nongame and endangered species is not paid for by state taxes, but rather is driven by donations to the Nongame Wildlife Fund. For every $5 you donate to the fund, the federal government matches it with $9. That means $5 from you equals $14 for conservation.
